Training Tips

“When I have a big session of training lined up, filled with intervals, I like to break it all down into smaller chunks; that 20×100 session in the pool is a whole lot easier to chew away at if you look at it as 4 times through only 5×100! Take each 5×100 as a set, and just work through them.  Same with running if you have a big session filled with 12x5mins; just bite it off into smaller sets of 4×5 and slowly work your way through, you’ll be done in no time! It can be SUPER daunting to start a workout and look at the whole thing. You don’t eat a huge pizza in one bite, you’ve gotta take it in pieces, and that makes it way easier to digest. Race day is no different, and if you have the mindset prepared well-ahead to take each little section of the course one bite at a time, you’ll be running down that hill for the last mile before you even realize it!” – Nathan Killam, Pro Triathlete, Full-time Fire-fighter, Father & Coach.

Wildflower Tri Clubs

“The Tri community is just that, a true community. The people I’ve met in the LA Tri Club, at races, workouts etc., are some of the nicest people around. LA Tri Club prides itself on being a “family” and it truly is.  The camaraderie amongst the members of The Club is like no other. Last year, LA Tri Club brought over 125 athletes along with their friends & families for a great Wildflower weekend of camping, barbequing and of course, racing.  We had our youngest member of 4 months old to our ‘oldest’ member at the young age of 86 who raced on Sunday.  We always bring up a large group to Wildflower, it’s one of our favorite races.”

–  Deb Carabet, Managing Director of LA Tri Club
