Young and Determined

By Roman Kristl, Remedi Organics
Both my mother and my father were accomplished athletes in their own respects. My mom got into triathlon’s during my formative years, and she was the one that introduced to the Wildflower Triathlon back in 2002. I remember standing at the finish line that year and watching the crowd erupt as different sweaty and tired individuals crossed the finish line and were greeted by friends and family. It was like nothing I had ever seen before, and I immediately knew I wanted to be apart of the Wildflower culture. In 2003 I got my chance to compete in my first ever Wildflower Triathlon. I was only 8 years old and competed in the Off-Road sprint distance race. I vividly remember that years event as it was the rainiest event on record. The entire mountain bike course was like a giant mud pit, making the bike portion of the race extremely challenging, especially for an 8-year-old who could barely carry his bike through the mud.

That was and still is one of the hardest races I have ever done, but the joy I got from crossing the finish line was like nothing else I have ever experienced. I remember being the youngest competitor participating that year, and when I crossed the finish line a number of people including the announcer couldn’t believe I made it through the entire race as a number of other competitors pulled out due to the muddy conditions. As I headed down the home stretch, I remember hearing the crowd getting louder and louder. As you head toward that corral at the finish you get a feeling of accomplishment, and the pain and agony that was with you for much of the race starts to disappear. The Wildflower is much more than a race to me, it is a community of individuals that come together to test the limits of their bodies as they embrace and push one another to go further and faster. I competed in 7 consecutive Wildflower events after that first one, and stood on top of the podium a number of times, which is another experience in itself. I will never forget the Wildflower and I am very excited to come back as a spectator and vendor this year.

My career as a triathlete came to an end when I moved to Lake Tahoe and pursued my dream of becoming a professional snowboarder. My dreams came true in 2015 when I finally signed my first professional snowboard contract. As you may know, the sport of snowboarding comes with constant injuries, and in 2017 I started a company called Remedi Organics and launched our first product Pain Remedi. Our company believes in the power of topical pain relievers, and our Naturally Powerful Pain Relief cream is helping athletes everywhere continue to do what they love most.

Come by the Expo booth at the festival and try our naturally powerful therapeutic creams that provide immediate relief from temporary and chronic pains from the outside in.  You may have a few pains after your Wildflower Experience.
